I am just getting back into ice fishing and need a sled for my gear. I know the sports shops sell them, but it seems like the prices are a little high for a plastic sled.
Does anyone have any ideas or use anything else that is durable and relatively cheap? I thought about using a regular sled, but they dont seem like they would hold up very long...

Good point, never thought of that! Thats kind of why I was reluctant to buy a large expensive "bucket", I dont like simple things that cost so much and are only a single purpose item.
ive fished icefished my whole life......get a decent sled. i have a otter style sled 4.5 ft. by 2.5. i fit my jiffy, vexilar and still two buckets in it. i got the sled on clearance for 17 bucks. steal! lots of stuff is clearanced now so go look

Spend the money on a good one. The bottoms wear out quick on the cheaper ones. I bought a new otter flip over this year and I took a garf out of the bottom of the sled the first time out on the ice. I went to the pawn shop after that and bought some downhill skis for $15 to put underneath it. Pulls like a dream now and no wear and tear on the sled .

I use a Frabil one man flip over/sled and it works great. You can fit all of your gear in the sled and when you get to your fishing spot you can flip it over and start fishing. The total weight is only 32 lbs and is very portable. Check it out here..... http://www.frabill.com/store/portable-i ... /6110.html
